When we think of a 'girlboss,' we envision someone who owns her narrative. This is undoubtedly the case with Anita Fabiola, actress, beauty queen, television personality, and entrepreneur. She splits her time between the showbiz and her NGO, the Fab Girls Foundation, which aims to raise awareness of the challenges that young girls face. Anita began her career as a beauty queen, but she has since transcended her pageant days and become a prominent figure in the industry.
With an upcoming TV show, a partnership with Afripods, and soon-to-be-launched beauty and hair products line – she is paving the way for her entry into the US market. With these opportunities, she hopes to showcase her charisma and talent to the world, 'we all grow up knowing America is the land of opportunity, but I believe every place is the land of opportunity if you work towards your calling,' she added."
Anita's journey has been challenging, but she has had the opportunity to work with the best in the industry, forging a name for herself and building a successful career. She hosted the 2016 BET Awards red carpet in Los Angeles and quickly became a favorite among the crowd. 'These events are crucial to black people's culture and the entertainment and music industry as a whole. They offer us an opportunity to control our narrative, share our stories, inspire and be inspired by one another, learn, and most importantly, bond and come together,' she remarked.
"As Anita's fame and career continue to soar, she has had the privilege of collaborating with incredible people, such as photographer Nicholas Mark Imagery. 'Shooting with such an amazing photographer, who has an artistic vision and professionalism, was an incomparable experience. I had so much fun, and it was completely out of my comfort zone,' she said. While her decision to pose topless caused quite a commotion, Anita feels proud to have done it. 'The thought of it freaked me out so much, but Nicholas made me feel comfortable and confident enough to do it.' According to Anita, we can look forward to more exciting collaborations like this from her in the future."
Today, Anita aims to help other women feel better about themselves and inspire those who may be going through difficult times. 'My own story inspired me to start this NGO. When I faced challenges in 2015, I managed to pick myself back up with strength and confidence. I knew then that I wanted to help other girls facing similar issues or even worse ones,' she explained.
